The Broken Arrow School Resource Officer (BASRO) program incorporates a multifaceted strategy of enforcement, education, and counseling in hopes of reducing criminal activity on school campuses, reduce student suspensions for violent incidents, and contribute to the quality of a safe learning and teaching environment. BASRO Officers perform the following functions:
Respond to schools for calls for service
Conduct school site visits to promote interaction between officers and youth.
Conduct presentations to students and other groups on various subjects.
Provide mentoring to students having discipline issues.

Cpl. Leon Calhoun supervises the School Resource Officer Unit. Cpl. Calhoun will not be assigned to any school’s this year but will fill in when the other Officers are training, vacation or need assistance.
Officer Paul Hughes is assigned to North Intermediate High School, Alternative Academy, Margaret Hudson, Sequoyah and Oliver Middle School, Wolf Creek, Rhoades, Oak Crest, and Lynnwood Elementary Schools.
Officer Scott Oelke is assigned to South Intermediate High School, Childers Middle School, Spring Creek, Arrow Springs, Indian Springs, Vandever, and Leisure Park Elementary Schools.
Officer Gary Sanders is assigned to B. A. High School, Centennial and Haskell Middle Schools, Country Lane, Liberty, Arrowhead, Westwood, and Park Lane Elementary School’s.
Officer Daniel Hurst is assigned to Union School’s that are in the City of Broken Arrow. Union 8th Grade Center, Peters, McAuliff, Moore, and Anderson Elementary School’s.
