The Broken Arrow Police Honor Guard was established in March of 1978 with the primary function of honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and have given their life during the service to their community. The Honor Guard also conducts funerals for active or retired Broken Arrow Police Officers, not killed in the line of duty, as well as attending officer’s funerals from other agencies. The Honor Guard also conducts funerals for officers from other agencies at the request of that agency. Another function of the Honor Guard is to represent the Broken Arrow Police Department as well as the City of Broken Arrow at special events, such as ceremonies, parades, and other services by providing a Color Guard to present or post the Colors
The Honor Guard consists of 16 highly dedicated members who have undergone a competitive application and selection process and is comprised of 1 Honor Guard Commander, 2 Squad Leaders, and their respective squads. The unit is made up of officers from multiple divisions within the police department. The Honor Guard trains regularly to maintain a high level of proficiency, as well has conducting Honor Guard training for other agencies.
