SSG Michael K. Coon Memorial Dedication

A Mission 22 silhouette unveiling ceremony will be held in honor of Staff Sgt. Michael K. Coon at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 8, at the Military History Center, 112 N. Main St.

Staff Sgt. Coon, who lost the War at Home to post traumatic stress disorder, will be honored with a ceremony and a mine sweeping silhouette statue from his service in Afghanistan. Coon served 10 years in the U.S. Army, deployed to Iraq and the Persian Gulf, and was considered a Muscogee Creek and Cherokee Tribal Warrior.

A number of military service personnel, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Honor Guard, the Seminole Nation Honor Guard, the Kiowa Black Leggings Society and the presentation of the Gold Star Mother’s Flag will be a part of the ceremony.
