Home MenuStreet Maintenance Program
The Streets Maintenance Program was made possible by a vote of Broken Arrow residents who approved the creation of a special revenue fund, the Street Sales Tax Fund, for the specific purpose of improving, constructing, and maintaining city streets as well as related infrastructure. The Streets Maintenance Program consists of Resurfacing Projects, Concrete Panel Repair and Replacement Projects, and Street Signal Projects. The projects are developed yearly and approved by City Council as part of the Fiscal Year budgeting and financial planning process.
Cost Over Time
The graphic below illustrates the importance of street maintenance, which is similar to having the tires rotated or the oil changed in your vehicle. That routine maintenance helps prevent against more expensive repairs to your vehicle. Spending money early in the life of a road helps extend the remaining life of the pavement and keeps costs down.
Street Sales Tax Fund
A Special Revenue Fund created for the purpose of improving, constructing, and maintaining City streets, sidewalks and related stormwater improvements, including the acquisition and replacement of machinery, equipment and materials, and including the installation of traffic control devices and signalization. The funding for this allocation came from a 0.25% tax that was effective January 1, 2017. On average, the fund generates $3.5-4 million annually.
