Important Reminders 1.5.23

Identifying Your Cart

Residential carts are identified by a serial number and the City of Broken Arrow logo. They are provided by the City of Broken Arrow to all residences with our service. Carts are assigned to a residence, not an individual. If a resident changes addresses, the cart remains with the house.

Servicing Your Cart

Carts should be placed at the curb for service by 6:00 a.m. on the assigned collection day. All trash should be bagged and tied securely within the cart. Recyclables in the blue cart should be loose (no bags), clean, and dry.

Weather Conditions and Your Cart

Under extreme conditions of inclement weather, the City Manager has the authority to suspend trash service. When conditions permit, trash service will resume. At times, inclement weather may cause displacement of residential carts. See Extreme Weather page.

Missing Carts

Missing or found carts may be reported by emailing SWRCustomerService@brokenarrowok.gov or calling us at 918-259-7000.

Residents are asked to postpone reporting a missing cart for 3 days after a weather event in hopes that the cart will be located in the vicinity and returned to the proper residence.

Cleaning of Carts

Carts may be cleaned using a mixture of 4 cups of vinegar and ½ cup of dish soap.

  • Empty your cart of any refuse.
  • Rinse your cart using a garden hose or power washer
  • Pour the cleaning mixture into the cart.
  • Use a scrub brush to fully clean the cart.
  • Rinse and empty the cart.
  • Leave the cart inverted so that it may dry.

Additional Carts

Additional refuse and recycling carts may be obtained by calling 918-259-6570.  Charges for extra carts may be found here.
