Broken Arrow’s water system has a long history of innovation and growth. From its beginnings using natural springs, the city has evolved into a robust water infrastructure serving a growing population. Here's how we ensure clean, reliable water for you:

  • Water Source: Our main water source is the Verdigris River, processed at our state-of-the-art Water Treatment Plant.
  • History: Our original water treatment plant, built in 1967, has undergone significant upgrades. The current treatment facility, designed in 2006 and operational since 2014, continues to serve the community with modern technology.

Water Treatment Process
At Broken Arrow’s Water Treatment Plant, we utilize advanced membrane filtration technology to ensure your water is safe and clean:

  • Membrane Filtration: The system includes 132 modules per rack with a pore size of 0.1 µm, filtering 20 million gallons of water daily.
  • Disinfection: We use sodium hypochlorite (0.8%) for disinfection, along with other processes, to maintain high water quality.

Storage and Distribution
To ensure water availability when you need it, we have:

  • Storage: Six storage tanks providing 11 million gallons of water capacity.
  • Distribution: Over 600 miles of waterlines ensure that treated water reaches homes and businesses reliably.
