BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (Oct. 17, 2024) – QuikTrip (QT), one of the nation’s leading convenience and gasoline retailers, announced a $351,000 grant awarded to the Broken Arrow Police Foundation to help fund the construction of a new Real Time Information Center and make the Broken Arrow community safer and stronger.
QuikTrip representatives were joined by Broken Arrow Police Chief Brandon Berryhill, Broken Arrow Police Foundation President Craig Canard and other board members, as well as Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler at a press conference to speak about the impact of QuikTrip’s charitable giving and its extensive support for law enforcement in the communities it serves.
Broken Arrow’s Real Time Information Center (RTIC) is a multi-faceted approach to crime prevention and reduction. The RTIC is a physical location within the Broken Arrow Police Department’s existing emergency operations center at the Public Safety Complex located at 1101 N. 6th St. This new facility will enable police officers and other emergency personnel to monitor the city with multiple live video feeds and other data sources to deploy resources more efficiently and respond more effectively to citizens needing immediate assistance.
“QuikTrip is a leader in supporting local law enforcement and investing in safer and stronger communities,” said Broken Arrow Police Chief Brandon Berryhill. “We are incredibly grateful for QuikTrip’s generous donation that will allow us to complete the funding needed for our Real Time Information Center and will help make Broken Arrow safer.”
“The Broken Arrow Police Foundation exists to raise private funding to address the critical yet unmet needs of the Broken Arrow Police Department,” said Broken Arrow Police Foundation President Craig Canard. “We could not have asked for a better partner than QuikTrip when it comes to standing in the gap and providing the financial support needed to ensure our officers have the resources that they need to keep our community safe and strong.”
Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler also praised the partnership between QuikTrip and the Broken Arrow Police Foundation and said Broken Arrow’s Real Time Information Center will help his office secure more convictions.
“Broken Arrow’s decision to commit its resources, to include contributions from corporate citizens like QuikTrip, is a real difference maker in catching the bad guy,” said Kunzweiler. “I have personally witnessed the impact a Real Time Information Center can have on delivering rapid response to victims in communities across this country. The networking of available resources, together with the advancements in video technology, has enabled us to identify suspects and their cohorts in a matter of a few minutes, if not seconds. This improved capability will protect Broken Arrow’s citizens and will bring to justice many who have been able to previously avoid capture.”
QuikTrip made clear these investments are part of a larger mission of addressing the toughest issues facing Broken Arrow, the Tulsa metro area, and the country. Since its founding in Tulsa in 1958, QuikTrip has grown to have more than 1,100 stores and 31,000 employees in 18 states. Throughout its more than 66-year history, QuikTrip has donated 5% of net profits to the communities it serves.
“While we are proud to have been headquartered in Tulsa for more than six decades, our hometown is not immune to the serious challenges that cities are facing across the country,” said QuikTrip Corporate Communications Manager Aisha Jefferson. “QuikTrip is committed to making meaningful investments and working together with partners that are committed to solving these issues to create a safer and stronger community for our employees, our customers and residents of Broken Arrow and surrounding communities.”
