The Fire Prevention Section is responsible for public Fire Safety Education, Fire/Explosion Investigations, Fire Safety Compliance Inspections, Plan Review for Fire and Life Safety Systems, and coordinating community risk reduction programs and services. The activities of the Prevention Section are embedded in the fundamentals of "Prevention through Education, Inspection, and Enforcement".

The Prevention Section consists of one Deputy Chief, who oversees the division. Also included is the Fire Marshal and three on-shift investigators. Additionally, there is also an administrative assistant. All sworn personnel are CLEET certified Peace Officers. Together, this team works closely with the Building Inspections Department, architects, engineers and contractors to ensure the safety of Firefighters as well as the citizens of Broken Arrow. The Prevention Section personnel also work with area businesses, schools and community groups to create and deliver safety education programs.

Broken Arrow is fortunate to have a “Safe House” trailer within its cache of life safety tools. The Safe House travels to public events and schools throughout the year to education children and parents about "home escape plans" in the event of a fire. The house provides a mobile classroom environment that can't be duplicated. The Safe House is one of the Fire Departments most visible tools when it comes to promoting fire safety and is available by appointment to Schools, or area organizations promoting a life safety message.
