The Criminal Investigations Unit is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations reported to the police department. Their primary goal is to investigate crime, gather evidence, and document their findings.

They identify perpetrators, locate and arrest those persons responsible for committing crimes. Their investigations may involve recovery of stolen property, for its return to the owners.

They also prepare cases for the assistance in the prosecution, and are responsible for sex offender and violent offender registration data.
