Broken Arrow's Water Sources
Broken Arrow’s main water supply comes from its municipal water treatment plant, which draws raw water from the Verdigris River. The Verdigris River Water Treatment Plant produces approximately 30 million gallons of water per day. Additionally, the Broken Arrow Municipal Authority has an agreement with the Tulsa Metropolitan Utility Authority to purchase 4.5 million gallons of water per day when necessary.
In 2022, the average daily use was 12.9 million gallons of water. The most water used in a single day during 2022 was 25.1 million gallons of water recorded on July 11.
The daily water use is continually monitored by the Utilities Department. When conditions exist that indicate the probability of a water shortage, the Water Conservation Program will be enacted.
Reducing Waste Water
During the summer months, water usage naturally increases as the weather conditions become hotter and drier. Water is a valuable resource. Using water wisely helps meet the needs of our community. You can find several tips for indoor and outdoor water use on the Conservation Tips page of the city website.
